Topic: Water Conservation
Water conservation refers to reducing the usage of water and recycling of waste water for different purposes such as cleaning, manufacturing, agricultural and irrigation. Through research on water conservation, I realised that the amount of water on Earth are really limited. The majority of the Earth's water is contained in the oceans and seas, and only three percent of Earth's water is freshwater. In the three percent of the freshwaters, seventy - nine percent is frozen is glaciers and ice caps in the Noth and South Poles, twenty percent is groundwater, and only one percent is accessible surface water. Of that small amount of accessible surface freshwater, fifty - three percent is in rivers and streams, and eight percent in the atmosphere.
Till now, there are many people who do not realise the importance of conserving water. They do not use it wisely and waste water. Many people would ask, "Why do we need to save water since water in constantly cleaned and recycled?" The reason is because when you play a part in conserving water, you help to save energy and the environment. We can actually conserve water by turning off the water taps when not in use, flush the toilet only when necessary, wash the clothes when you have full load, stop leakages and shorten your showers! Just by doing these, you have already conserved a few gallons of water!
Now, I have understood the meaning of water conservation and I would play a part to start conserving water to help the environment!
